Pure and Faultless Religion

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”

Sermons We See

(By Edgar A. Guest)

I’d rather see a sermon than hear one any day;

I’d rather one should walk with me than merely tell the way.

The eye’s a better pupil and more willing than the ear,

Fine counsel is confusing, but example’s always clear;

And the best of all the preachers are those who live their creeds,

For to see good put in action is what everybody needs.

.

I soon can learn to do it if you’ll let me see it done;

I can watch your hands in action, but your tongue too fast may run.

And the lecture you deliver may be very wise and true,

But I’d rather get my lessons by observing what you do;

For I might misunderstand you and the high advice you give,

But there’s no misunderstanding how you act and how you live.

.

When I see a deed of kindness, I am eager to be kind.

When a weaker brother stumbles and a strong one stays behind

Just to see if he can help him, then the wish grows strong in me

To become as big and thoughtful as I know that friend to be.

And all travelers can witness that the best of guides today

Is not the one who tells them, but the one who shows the way.

.

One good person teaches many, we believe what we behold;

One deed of kindness noticed is worth forty that are told.

Who stands with those of honor learns to hold their honor dear,

For right living speaks a language which to every one is clear.

Though an able speaker charms me with their eloquence, I say,

I’d rather see a sermon than to hear one, any day.

Let Us Love With Actions

“18 Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”

NIV 1 John 3:18; KJV 1 John 3:18

Love is an action, not an emotion. Love is a verb. Love does great things. Love acts. Love helps. Love appreciates. Love is there for you. Love listens. Love understands. Love and Truth go hand in hand. Let us love one another with actions and in truth.

If we claim to be without sin…

“8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.”

NIV 1 John 1:8-10; KJV 1 John 1:8-10

Today my prayer is that all that have been taught to be pure and without sin, may see the light of God and become aware that everyone is a sinner. I pray that all who believe their good works will make them deserving of the eternal life become aware that it will not. I pray that all who have hope but they are not quite sure if God will have mercy on them, become aware that they don’t have to doubt anymore. To all who have recognized themselves in all of the above: Jesus died to pay the price for our sins. Our hope and assurance is in Him. Believing in Him cleanses our sins, makes us pure and deserving of eternal life in Heaven. There is no other way.

I am free

For God So Loved The World

” For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

NIV John 3:16; KJV John 3:16

What an amazing, indescribable and unfathomable Love does God have for His children?! He sent His only Son to suffer and die on the cross for us. Who are we to be deserving of such Love? We mess up every day; we think, we say and we do things that set us apart from God’s Love, yet He still cares and He still loves us because we are His children. We are. Let’s never forget that. Let’s always remember that through His Grace and our Faith in Him our lives will not end at the hour of death, but will continue into eternity.

HE Holds Everything Together

“16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.”

NIV Colossians 1:16-17; KJV Colossians 1:16-17

All things were created in Him. All things. All creation rejoices in Him. All creation, except man. A man chooses to be apart from the One who created him, and then he wonders why is he unhappy, why is he confused, why he has no purpose. Apart from Jesus we can never be truly happy or truly free. He holds everything together. ‘Everything’ includes you my friend. Let Jesus into your heart and you will find true freedom, true happiness and true purpose created especially for you by the One who loves you unconditionally.

Walk with Jesus

The Name of Jesus

“9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of  things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

KJV Philippians 2:9-11; NIV Philippians 2:9-11

How can we be troubled? How can we be afraid if we know that Our God is above all things?! He loves us more than the words can express and the soul can hope. His Name is ABOVE every name! Keep that in mind when the enemy comes knocking at your door. We can’t be shaken for we stand in Christ Jesus.

If I don’t have Love

“1 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.”

NIV 1 Corinthians 13:1-3; KJV 1 Corinthians 13:1-3

Find Love in your heart. Don’t let it leave you. Carry it with you wherever you go. Speak it whenever you can. Let all your actions be guided by Love. You can be smart, successful and talented, but if you don’t have love it’s all not worth it. None of it. Use your gifts and let the Love lead you.

Hallelujah! Praise the Lord!

“Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord, my soul. I will praise the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.”

NIV Psalm 146:1-2; KJV Psalm 146:1-2

Let us bow down to the Lord! Let us praise His Holy Name! Let us thank Him for the air we breathe, for the ground that we walk on, for the every second of our lives. Let’s rejoice in the Lord, maker of Heaven and Earth. HALLELUJAH, PRAISE HIS MIGHTY NAME!

The Vine and The Branches

“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit,while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes[a] so that it will be even more fruitful. 3 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 4 Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.”

NIV John 15:1-4; KJV John 15:1-4

I will remain in Christ Jesus. I will not be shaken. I will not conform to the world. The world is full of deception. I am a branch of Jesus. I will stand in His Word. His Love will cover me. His Truth will guide me. His Grace will save me. I WILL REMAIN IN HIM.
